The Reunion

In November it will be 20 years since I left High School, I had never given it much thought until a group of students from my former school decided to organise a reunion. Since it has been so long, it was agreed that instead of having a class reunions we would a group of classes from a six year period. The main reasons being some have sadly passed on, but most are scattered all over the world mostly in Zimbabwe, South Africa and United Kingdom.

Thanks to Facebook it was quite easy to get people in group, exchange phone numbers and start organising the three events. By default I attended the South African Reunion. I was reunited with my classmate who I had not seen since the day we left school. We couldn’t stop talking as we had twenty whole years to catch up on. It was great to see her after so long.

Reunited after twenty years.

I think we probably needed name tags as I couldn’t recall some of the faces at all. It was like meeting new people. Of the ones I could remember I noticed that most had barely changed in terms of character. Overall it was a great day and most people who didn’t attend wished they had.

Who Are The Misfits

Misfit Monday Blog Hop

Welcome to the fist weekly blog hop of the Misfit Bloggers, this first post is about introducing myself and this lovely group of ladies.

Who am I, I a thirty something woman living in Johannesburg, South Africa, I don't think I can actually do any good, trying to describe myself.  I will just say that I am adventurous, I love trying out new things, meeting new people, good food and good reads.

What I do currently, I work in sales, specifically sales of lingerie, I am not sure how best to describe this job, as it has its ups and downs, but mostly ups.  Everyday people ask me the most ridiculous questions, that at times I can never tell if they are joking or serious, most days I have a blast at work.  Before the Lingerie business I was a Legal Secretary, but due to certain circumstances I had to settle for what I have now.

Why I blog I started blogging after I had been regularly reading a number of blogs and felt inspired to start my own.  Also as way of challenging my self with many of  my personal goals,

What the Misfits mean to me: they are a major source of inspiration for my blogging journey, everyday there is always so information to partake as well to share I am glad to be part of the Misfits

Another Book Signing

As an avid book reader, I love hearing authors speak about their work, and the challenges they have faced over the years. So this past Sunday I had the opportunity to see in person Jeffrey Archer, an accomplished author who has written a number of books that have been read all over the world. His latest offering is Sins of the Father which has already become an international bestseller.  After the talk he signed copies for all who wanted their books signed and dedicated including my copy of Only time Will Tell.

Fun in the Sun

I have been putting off my 30 day Challenge for days, today is Day 18.  So I guess now its really out there I have a problem with procrastination.   While we are on that subject, I have been putting off visiting the Monte Casino Bird Gardens, for a long time and I finally decided to go and check it out.   I am always at Monte Casino for one reason or the other but for some strange reason I had actually never taken the time to go the other side of Monte.  So this is what the other side has to offer.

Part of the Bird Show, quite entertaining I must, who knew that birds could actually be entertaining

Not sure what this little creature is. apart from birds, there are other small animals, snakes and amphibians.

Birds Strutting their stuff

Over all the Birds Gardens is great place to be, for family, kids will probably enjoy it more, but I quite enjoyed as I found lots photographic opportunities.

Day 3 - 30 days of Action

I decided to skip over to day 3 of the Challenge, as I started yesterday which would mean that was literally day zero, then today would be Day 1. So because I don't want to be behind any longer today will be day 3.

I have read a book by Julia Cameroon called The Artists Way which is basically "a course in Discovering and Recovering your Creative Self".  It is a twelve week course and a very detailed book, I have attempted it twice already  but I have never completed the entire course.  So this is my third attempt and third time is a charm right.?

One of the basic requirements in the book is to write three pages daily writing down whatever you have in mind, and there is no right way or wrong way of doing it.  So today was my first day at redoing the morning pages and I plan to get them done during this month and this time finish the entire 12 weeks.

30 Days of Action

I have decided to take on the challenge set by Shannon at Eat, Pray, Love.. Live.  During the month of April I will be challenging myself to Blog everyday.  I will blog about all sorts of different activities, some which I have been putting for a while, which is why My Challenge is called 30 days of Action.  Since this blog is generally centred around my 101 goals 1001 days.  A few of the things I have been putting off are:

1) Daily Morning Pages
2) Exercise Regularly (At least three times a week)
3) Weekly Artists Dates

This is just a sneek peak of what I will be getting up to during the month of April.

Delightful Peep of Month

This April has come with a lot of good things and its barely started, firstly I am glad to be guest posting over at  Ebony Delights for her series called Delightful Peep of the Month.  She has interviewed a number of people from different positions in life and I am glad to be included as the Peep of the Month this April.  Why don't you hop at  over to Ebony Delights to check out my interview with her.

Not So Exotic

Anything that takes me to India is good enough for me, and yesterday I got to experience it yet again in a movie with an interesting name.  The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.  Set in Jaipur India this movie revolves around the lives of a group of elderly people.  They all decide to travel to India, for different reasons and their lives eventually intertwine as they settle into the not so exotic Marigold Hotel.

It has a lot of funny moments, some sad moments too, but I quite liked the ending which shows that in the end it does not matter how old you are you can always get a second chance and that life has lots of unexpected moments.

Yarn Along

Since this a new thing for me I am trying. Reading patterns seems to be a bit of challenge because I seem to coming up with my own pattern.  So that there is my first attempt at knitting a hat I hope that it will look good when I am done.  I have just finished reading Maeve Binchy's Scarlet Feather.  Its set in Dublin, and revolves around a number of characters, difficult to digest at first but once you get to the second chapter, which is amazingly on page 90, the story just starts to flow.   Its definitely a goodread and I give it four stars out of five.
